Hi, I’m Scott Duncan. I was born and raised right here in Berne and where I’ve raised my four children.
I’ve lived here through the good times and the hard ones. I’ve never stopped showing up for our town.
“To be successful, you need the right people in the right places. Leadership starts at the top. You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution — I believe I’m part of the solution.”
Berne’s financial situation is serious. The board needs to make difficult but necessary decisions. We’ve got to use common sense, cut the fluff, and make sure that every dollar is working for the people.
For over 26 years, I’ve been a volunteer firefighter with the East Berne Fire Company. I’ve served as Fire Chief for more than 20 of those years. I’ve been responsible for budgets, personnel, maintenance, equipment and public safety.
We’ve built a new, energy-efficient firehouse that’s low-maintenance and built to serve the people of Berne for years to come.
I’ve also served as Deputy Commissioner with the Albany County Department of Public Works, where I learned how to do more with less — managing budgets, working with unions, solving problems, and making tough decisions in hard times.
I’ve spent my life in public service because I believe that you have to step up when people need you.
I’ve been married for nearly 20 years. For the last 10 years my wife has worked for the Albany County Sheriff’s office in the Stop DWI unit. She is also the President of the East Berne Volunteer Fire Company.
I’m also the proud father of four amazing children. All who are attending BKW or who have graduated from there.
My oldest son Dylan is 25. He went on to Hartwick College, playing football there. He’s about to buy his first house right here in Berne!
Kaylee, my oldest daughter is 19. She is currently a 911 dispatcher for the Albany County Sheriff’s office and plans to attend the police academy as soon as her age allows.
My youngest daughter Alissa is 17 and is a senior at BKW. She is a National quad racer competing in the Women’s MX with several national championship wins and plans on attending law school in the future.
My youngest son Gunner is 10. He is a great helper at the firehouse and cannot wait to join! Even at his young age, he plans on being Chief of the East Berne Volunteer Fire Company someday.
I have devoted my life to being a public servant. I love our little town and I’ll work hard for it. My goal is to leave it better for my kids because their future depends on it, and someday my grandkids will, too.
Please Note: Democrat Scott Duncan has wide-ranging support in Berne. He’s also being endorsed by the town’s Republican Committee and is running on their line as well.
Please vote for Scott on Row A to show your support.
