Make Sure That Your Absentee Ballot Is Counted and Correct for the 2025 Election

We’ve heard that during past elections, people have shown up at some voters’ homes offering to help with absentee ballots, only to try to change or influence who those voters selected.

Here’s how you can get an absentee ballot and make it count:

Apply online at: https://elections.ny.gov/request-ballot

When you apply, you must choose one of these options about how you will get your ballot:
  • You can pick up the ballot yourself at the Albany County Board of Elections at 260 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202.
  • You can authorize someone you know and trust to pick it up there for you. If you like, a volunteer can pick up your ballot and deliver it to you. You can contact us to help you set that up.
  • You can have it mailed to you.

If you’ve already applied and authorized someone else to pick it up, make sure that they’re someone you know and trust.

If you have any questions, you can call the Board of Elections at 518-487-5060.

Here’s how to complete your absentee ballot:
  • Mark your choices,
  • Place the ballot in the provided security envelope, seal it securely, and
  • Sign and date the outside of the security envelope
Here are the many ways that you can submit your absentee ballot:
  • Mail it postmarked by November 4th,
  • Drop it off at the County Board of Elections by 9 PM on November 4th,
  • Bring it to any early voting site in Albany County between October 25th and November 2nd, or
  • Bring it to your polling site at the East Berne Firehouse by 9 PM on Election Day, November 4th

If you have any questions, please contact us. We’d be happy to help.
